According to the OHA, the number of weekly cases of COVID-19 and hospitalizations continued to decline, falling to 5,698 the week of Nov. 15 to 21, a decline of 2.4% despite testing increasing 19% during the same span.

State Hospital Salem campus reopens for visitation

The Oregon State Hospital’s Salem campus resumed in-person visitation for family and friends of vaccinated patients on Wednesday.

With Marion County’s COVID-19 positivity rate dropping below the CDC’s 'moderate' benchmark of 8%, the state opted to reopen the campus to guests, as it did with the Junction City location in October.

“I’m thrilled to have reached this point, when patients and their families can finally see each other in person,” superintendent Dolly Matteucci said in a statement.

The Oregon Health Authority said Oregon State Hospital was one of the last psychiatric hospitals in the United States to have a positive case and has had no deaths among patients.

The hospital did not give a timeline for when it will allow visitation of unvaccinated patients.
